nineMinecraft is a joke site.
nineMinecraft is in no way affiliated with Modrinth or 9minecraft. (And frankly, who wants to be affiliated with the latter?)

I'll include the original mod author, Union, here: Union's Upgrade Scrolls - Minecraft Mods - CurseForge His original mod's link where I got all the inspiration for the port, and the assets. Code was not used from the original due to MCreator being prevalent (and difficult to manage) in the original: DaddyUnion's Profile - Member List - CurseForge - (It also largely benefited my skills and the coding process if I rewrote it myself)

And credit to Kaupenjoe's Forge 1.20.1 YouTube tutorials, they were my main way to learn modding and how I was able to undertake this project in the first place: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKGarocXCE1H9Y21-pxjt5Pt8bW14twa-&si=nrDbCbfw1uOH9iAw

This mod is a port of the 1.16.5 mod, with permission from Union of course. Assets were made by him except for three items. These also serve as unique-to-this-version items. with everything else being found in the original.

Curio Scrolls - These are brand new scrolls introduced in this port and work only with curio registered items. This is the bit that requires CurioAPI.

Now, onto the mod description!

What's this mod about?

Union's Upgrade Scrolls is a mod heavily inspired by Maplestory's scrolls.

This mod introduces multiple new scrolls that can empower your gear and even add affixes for additional attributes.

This mod was ported from 1.16.5 with the creator's permission.

Most Recent Update: v1.2.7 - JSON improvements

What do they do and how do they work?

Scrolls empower your items and can be applied to almost all weapons, tools and even armor!

Now even Curio in this port! The effects are minimal on their own, but with a group of curio you can really get powerful.

The effect of the scrolls depends on which one you're applying to your item.

"Modifier Scrolls" roll a random "Affix", which will give you extra attribute buffs when the item is equipped or held.

"Cursed Scrolls" apply stars that deal additional damage, or give more armor, on success, but have a chance to destroy your equipment if failed.

"Golden Scrolls" apply the "Unbreakable" tag, preventing your item from being destroyed by scrolls or durability. "Holy Scrolls" cause your next failed Cursed Scroll roll to prevent destroying your item. When used on an item that has a Golden Scroll applied, it will instead prevent your item's stars from resetting.

Using these scrolls is super easy, just hold or equip anything you want to scroll and right click to fuse them together. If it's a valid weapon/shield/curio while a scroll is in your offhand, it will have a cooldown overlayed.

What else should I know?

"Cursed scrolls" have a chance to succeed or fail, with each success adding a star to your item.

The chances to roll these are: 80% Success or 20% Lose Item.

These specific scrolls can be used multiple times, but hard cap at +15 successes.

If you do hit the 20% Lose Item roll, you will obviously lose the item you attempted to upgrade. However, unbreakable items will survive but have their stars reset.

Where do I get them?

Breaking mob spawners drops a "Mysterious Scroll".

There is also a 1/150 chance to receive a "Golden Mysterious Scroll".

Right clicking these will randomly roll one of the scrolls that exist.

Now I know this doesn't match the port originally, but this will be fixed in a port parity update.
