Hello everyone, and welcome to the Myrix mod!

This is a project I've had in the works for a while now, and I believe I'm at the point of doing a first release of the mod. It's something I'm still working on, of course, but I'm happy enough with my progress to publish it, for now.

This mod was mostly made alone, with the help of MCreator and BlockBench. All models, animations and textures were made by me, with one exception: lukasm0reno made the texture for Wyverns.

Now, onto the features of this mod!

Swamp Wyverns and Acid

Swamp Wyverns are a medium sized predator endemic to...well, swamps. They feed mostly on other animals, hunting them down by spraying acid on them, or by simply biting. To a wyvern, a human is just another prey, so be careful!

Two Wyverns, roosting in their nest

Wyvern acid is a potent substance. While wearing armor will probably protect you, it won't do so for long. In fact the acid is strong enough to melt through your armor, taking away decent chunks of its durability

Of course, if the acid fully destroys your armor, it will start affecting your health instead. There are ways to avoid this. The first one is to be lucky. either trough enchanting tables, loot, or villagers, you may stumble upon a new enchantment: Anti-Acid, which does exactly what you think. It makes your armor, and by proxy you, immune to acid.

The other, is to be skilled: Slay enough Wyverns, and you'll be able to craft armor out of their scales. Wyvern Scale armor is also immune to acid, but is only as protective as iron.

Alongside their Scales, wyverns may also drop their guts. Put those in a brewing stand to get acid potions. Add a touch of gunpowder, and you'll be able to throw acid at your own enemies!

V 1.0.1 Onwards: Be brave enough to approach a wyvern, fish in hand, and you may be able to befriend, and even ride the curious reptile!

Rats and the Plague

Scattered through the more flat biomes, you can stumble into Abandoned Farmhouses.

An abandoned farmhouse

While a good pit stop during your adventure, as they still contain edible food and some tools, these old, decayed buildings do what all abandoned food deposits eventually do: Attract Rats. Rats inside the farmhouse

Why should a seasoned explorer care about a few tiny rodents? Because these rodents carry the Plague. And the plague is a guaranteed Death, with no known cure.

...But if you get rid of the pest, you might get the chance to become a vector of the plague yourself. Very few things can survive the plague...

A poison potion being turned even deadlier

Kitsunes and Yumis As you wander through the Cherry trees, you may stumble into areas thet feel suspiciously flat, and hear a sound like laughter...

A small clearing in the middle of a cherry forest

...you may even be tempted to walk on them...

...and that's when you'll encounter the small, fox-like predator known as a Kitsune!

A kitsune under a cherry tree

These small predators use their mastery of illusion to bait animals into their den, before munching on their meat...and you are no exception to this behaviour. Win against them, and you might chop off one of their many tails, granting you some illusions of your own. One such illusion is Illusory Grass, the very same trick kitsunes used against you. and if you, a human with full mental capacity fell for it, surely so will the mindless monsters that roam the land...

Before we introduce the other main use for kitsune tails, we need to mention a new weapon: the Yumi Bow. longer than your usual bow, it has a bigger draw length, and so is much more powerful.

Tie a kitsune tail to a yumi to get the Illusory Yumi

Notice how it looks like the arrow missed, but the husk still took damage? That's the power of illusions.

Buckler and parrying The final standard feature of the mod is a small **Buckler Shield**. It can block attacks like any ordinary shield. However, raise it at just the right time and...

...you'll parry the mob, knocking them back!

The mod also includes larger features, that i'll call quests. These are longer, chained together features, that I want you to mostly explore on your own. Adding more quests is what most of the mod's big updates will be about.

Quest 1: St.Astrid's Glaive

Clearly, whatever civilization was there on the overworld before us, they've been to the nether. And because it's the nether, they surely send warriors and soldier into that cursed land. Now, Scattered across the overworld are the Tombs of those warriors, and the churches that held their funerals...

DEPENDENCIES: None!

RECOMMENDED MODS: Both The glaives and the yumi bows are fully compatible with BetterCombat animations, but they are not required. Also, as I said in the intro, this is meant to be a small piece in a bigger modpack. There's plenty of travel necessary, so I suggest finding something to fill in that empty time.

DISCLAIMER: The mod has not yet been tested in multiplayer. It's on the to do list.
