⚠️ This mod is currently in Beta! ⚠️
Changes may be made to ensure a better experience before release.

Enchiridion aims to rework and expand upon the Enchantment system by assigning Enchantments to a categorical system of Primaries, Secondaries or Tertiaries while providing more variety in the player's items with new Enchantments.

In past versions of Minecraft, Enchantments acted more as bonus additions to your items rather than mandatory upgrades, which worked with how difficult it was to get maxed out Enchantments. In modern versions however, Enchantments are somewhat of an alternative progression system on top of what it was, which is supplemented by the idea of keeping your perfected everyday items forever with Mending or Anvil Repairing.

There is potential in these two design goals, and this mod tries to bring out the best in both.

📋 Main Features

  • Enchantments are now assigned a category of Primaries, Secondaries or Tertiaries to encourage variety and impact in which enchantments you apply to your items.
  • Villagers have been reworked to encourage a more diverse enchanting experience.
  • New Enchantments to fill in specific niches that Vanilla can't, as well as modified Vanilla Enchantments to better fit in with the mod.
  • Reworks to the Enchanting Table and Anvil.
  • Enchanted Books now stack up to 16.

🔮 Enchanting

The Enchanting Table serves as a quick and indecisive way to obtain Enchantments on your items. It selects up to 3 eligible enchantments randomly depending on the level you enchant at, with a low chance to gain an additional enchantment whilst enchanting.

The costs for using the Enchanting Table have been lowered, with the maximum cost now being 20 instead of 30. Bookshelves will still provide the same power to the Enchanting Table.

The Enchanting Table may additionally level up Enchantments on existing items provided you have the required Experience Levels, Lapis Lazuli and Bookshelf Power!

📚 Enchantments and Categories

📙 Primary Enchantments are denoted with a yellow bookmark and are a major functionality for your item. Primaries incentivize a specific usage or change the usage of the item they are applied to. The Primaries you select at a given time will ultimately depend on your playstyle and preferences!

📘 Secondary Enchantments are denoted with a blue bookmark and are a minor new functionality for your item. Secondaries provide minor benefits to the use case of an item. It's up to you to figure out which secondaries synergise with your options!

📗 Tertiary Enchantments are denoted with a green bookmark and are stat changes for your item to make it easier to use within its area. Tertiaries may be conditional or unconditional, but won't ever add a new functionality to the item. Tertiaries are the bread and butter of your enchanted items!

📕 Curse Enchantments are now a category and are denoted with a red bookmark. Curses may be applied alongside other Curses, and are flavorful downsides to the items you find within the world. Hopefully you still want to use the item!

📖 Uncategorized Enchantments are denoted with a gray bookmark. They may be applied to any item that Vanilla would allow them to be applied to, including with other Enchantments of this category. Go wild with these enchantments!

🔖 Vanilla Enchantment Modifications

Blast/Fire/Projectile Protection and Feather Falling

  • May stack past the original Protection capacity for their respective damage values, at a consistently halving damage reduction rate.

Channeling

  • Additionally is allowed to summon lightning in rain.

Impaling

  • Now deals half of the sensitive entity damage to any entity that is touching water or rain.
  • Sensitive damage stays the same as before.
  • Drowned are now considered Sensitive to Impaling.

Frost Walker

  • Will create Frosted Ice whilst the user is in the air.
  • Deactivates whilst sneaking or whilst falling at a distance at which you will take damage.
  • Frosted Ice is quicker to melt.
  • Decreased the surface area that Frost Walker affects.

Infinity

  • No longer requires an arrow in the inventory to fire regular arrows.
  • No longer incompatible with Mending.

Loyalty

  • Will return to the user if thrown into the void.
  • If thrown from the offhand, the Loyalty Trident will return to the user's offhand.

Mending

  • No longer incompatible with Infinity.

Multishot

  • Additional arrows shot using Multishot may bypass immunity frames if the arrows land on the target at the same time.
  • Additional arrow damage caused by the above is reduced to a quarter of the regular damage.

Soul Speed

  • No longer uses up durability.

Sweeping Edge

  • Now has unique Sweep particles.

Thorns

  • Base damage changed from Vanilla's 4 (2 hearts) to 3 (1.5 hearts).
  • Thorns damage may now stack in the same attack.
  • Will now only come into effect if the attacker is within 2.5 blocks of the user.
  • No longer uses up durability.

Wind Burst

  • May now appear in the Enchanting Table.

All of these may be disabled through disabling a built-in datapack.

🌀 Siphoning

The Siphoning Table is a brand new functional block that will allow you to enchant an item directly using Experience drawn from nearby Sculk Catalysts, Lapis Lazuli and other standard materials! (It does take a while, so it's best to do other things as it does its thing.)

🔨 Anvils

Anvils now have the ability to swap enchantments between items and Enchanted Books, swapped Enchantments will be in the second result slot.

Use costs will now increase based off how many Enchantments an item has instead of Anvil uses. (Renaming, repairing and swapping enchantments without a difference in enchantment level will always cost 1 level)

🧑‍🦲 Villagers

We would personally recommend playing Enchiridion with the Villager Rebalance Experiment enabled as Armorers will feel more balanced with an additional Diamond cost for Diamond Armor.

🧑‍🏫 Librarians
  • Pre-Expert Profession Level Enchanted Book trades may only be traded at level I.
  • Journeyman Profession Level Enchanted Book trades have a chance be traded at level II instead level Level I.
  • Pre-Expert Profession Level trades are selected from a pre-defined list of 3 Primaries, 3 Secondaries, 3 Tertiaries and 1 Curse, dependent on the Villager's biome variant.
  • Expert trades guaranteed to be either Crumble, Splitting, or Prospector at level I or II, dependent on the Villager's biome variant.
  • Master Profession Level trades are guaranteed to be Unbreaking II on Desert, Plains, Savanna, and Taiga Villagers or Mending on Snow, Jungle and Swamp Villagers.
  • Librarians are guaranteed to roll at least one Enchanted Book per profession level.
  • Book trades will never roll the same enchantment.
  • Categories will never repeat outside of guaranteed trades.
  • The restock amount for Enchanted Books is now 8 instead of 12.
  • All reputation price multipliers are quartered for Enchanted Books.
🛡️ Armorers

Vanilla

  • Enchanted Armor trades are now rolled from a pool of biome-dependent Tertiaries, Primaries and Unbreaking at a low enchanting level.

Villager Rebalance Experiment

  • Expert Profession Level trades have been simplified to always trade two of four Armor items. These will be Iron tier for Desert, Plains, Savanna and Taiga Villagers and Chainmail tier for Snow, Jungle and Swamp Villagers.
  • Expert Profession Level Armor Enchantments are now rolled from a pool of biome-dependent Tertiaries, Primaries and Unbreaking at a low enchanting level.
  • Master Profession Level trades have been simplified to always trade two specific Enchanted Diamond Armor items with the cost of Emeralds and Diamonds.
  • Master Profession Level Armor Enchantments are now rolled from a pool of biome-dependent Tertiaries, Primaries and Unbreaking at a low enchanting level.

The Villager Rebalance Experiment Simplifications may be turned off via config.

⛏️ Toolsmiths and ⚔️ Weaponsmiths
  • Enchanted Tool and Weapon trades now roll from a pool of biome-dependent Tertiaries, Primaries and Unbreaking at a low enchanting level.
